Confused and unsure

i recently was given blood tests and was told my tsh was over 380... should i be more worried? im obviously not a dr and i dont want to doubt mine. but he just put me on a thryoid... ive heard people say that with a tsh over 200 you should be hospitalized... so im just not sure if my nerves and fears are founded or not. Help please!

You need to be on levothyroxine and monitored closely to make sure you are responding to treatment -- would see an endocrinologist.  Hospitalization is not based on any particular number, but on symptoms and is usually not required.

If you are otherwise healthy and young (<60 ? ) then the dose is usually 0.7 x body weight (assuming you are not significantly over or under weight).  For example, a 200 pound person would have a calculated dose of 140mcg (137mcg tablet is available).

thats the med he put me on... im glad to know that i dont need to be hospitalized. i have a 6  month old and that would just kinda kill me to be away from her.
