High TSH Levels

My TSH level has been @ 29.5 for about a year.  I keep going to my DR. and all he does is keep upping my synthroid by small icrements.

I have had unexplained depression (Suicidal, Paniced, Fatigue, etc.)  I feel terrible ALL the time and KNOW that my thyroid is the reason.  I had been seeing a psychiatrist, and before they found my thyroid issue, she had me pegged as bi-polar.  She also happens to have hypothyroidism and thinks that this could be my entire problem.

My question is...Is there anything more I can do to get my levels correct?  My MD seems very passive about this and even stated that he never heard of hypothyroidism causing depression!  When I research this, I find that a ton of people have experienced the same stuff.  I need Help!  Any information on this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Hi.  Hypothyroidism DOES cause depression and suicidal thoughts.  This did not abate with me when finally started on T4 only medication.  Only when I got some T3 did all the head stuff disappear....depression, anxiety, brain fog etc.  I am now on combo T4/T3 and finally feeling ok.
See stopthethyroidmadness.com for good info.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
It will be important to work with a thyroid expert to titrate the medication to get the TSH consistently in range and determine why you are not responding to the dose increases in the past.  With a TSH this high, much of the depression may be aggravated by hypothyroidism.
