Hypothyroid?

I have always had normal BP but a fortnight ago had it checked and it was very high. Doc put me on BP medication. Also asked me to get a number of tests done.
Everything turned out to be normal but TSH was 4.12.

I have had TSH tested almost every year. It has always been in the range 1.57 to 1.89 but now there has been a sudden spurt to 4.12.

Do you thin k I need treatment for it?

I am 65 years old. Is my BP prob lem related to thyroid?

Thanks.

This does not require treatment.  Half the time these slightly high TSH levels normalize on followup.  So next step is to repeat in 2-3 months.  Probably unrelated to BP.

Thank you doctor, for your advice. I will repeat the test after 3 months.

I have been checking on TSH levels every 3 to 4 years. Mostly they have been in the range 1.57 to 1.89.
It is only now that there has been aspurt in the readings from 1.89 in Feb, 2011 to 4.12 in August, 2011.

That is why I was wondering if it is related to BP rise.

Thank you once again for your response.
