Increasing TSH

Hi Doctor,
I am 30 weeks pregnant. In my routine blood test report at 27 weeks TSH level was 4.46 .Free T3 and free T4 were within range.According to my OB I  went again and it came out to be 5.6 with free T3 and free T4 withing range. She reffered me to an Endocrinilogist and he has given me Synthroid 25mcg tab which i have to take daily empty stomach in the morning.I m concerned about the overall development of my baby till now.I did not have any previous history of hypothyrodism nor in my family.I am not feeling any symptoms of hypothyrodism and i m able to do my daily routine work.I daily go for 1 hr walking.
Please advice
Thank

It is possible that the pregnancy brought on the problems with your thyroid. I have hypothyroidism and Graves Disease and I know that while I'm pregnant (6 wks right now) they have to watch it very closely because being pregnant really messes with my levels. My sister who has never had thyroid problems, developed some issues while she was pregnant, but they went away after she had the baby. She was told it was brought on by the pregnancy. I know that in 14 years, my dosage of synthroid never changed until I got pregnant, and since my first pregnancy (ended in m/c in June), the dosage has changed at least a half dozen times. Pregnancy does funny things to every part of your body, I guess the thryoid is just no different. :) Also, I know that while I'm pregnant, they like to keep my TSH levels around 1, they say it's just to make me and the baby feel better, so I don't know how high is too high to worry about developmental problems. I know that my doc said lower levels are fine, it's high levels that make him worry, but he never said how high was worrisome. Also, when my dosage is changed, I have made them re-check the levels after about 3 weeks to see if it's the dosage needs to increase or decrease again. They always tell me to come back in 8 weeks, and I make them check me every 3 or 4 while it's fluctuating. Good luck!!!

SORRY GOT CUT OFF.

Hormons
S.T4                                         4.30  micro gm/dLl
S.TSH (Ultrasensitive)               14.18  uTU/ml

I have just recently discovered this when I went for blood tests for infection as my temp was not going away (Almost 3 weeks).  Found  very high colestrol levels too. Dr. said they were in High
Risk catagory and that meant I could have a heartattack if didn't take proper medication and precautions of what I was eating.  Do Colestorl and Thyroid have anything to do with each other.
Please give me the required infor as soon as possible so that I can convincve my parents of the proper treatment to be done..   They are scared.
Thank you so much.

Hi Doctor,
In continuation of my previous question.
->Is it possible that i had hypothyrodism before pregnancy and it went untreated, although i had my blood test during january2007 and TSH was 3.19 .I became pregnant during early March.2007
->As i have no family or previous history of hypothyrodism. Is it possible that i developed it during pregnancy.
If i go for ultrasound of my baby, will it be able to tell me the complete development of my child, including brain development.
Please advice
Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
The TSH is high and I am glad you are on some synthroid.  With regard to development, most problems that have been seen occur with much higher TSH levels, so the risk is low.

I would recommend testing thyroid antibodies (TPO and Tg) to see if this is hashimoto's.

You will likely need a higher dose of synthroid but I imagine the endo is retesting in 4-5 weeks....
