Hi, I may not be spelling it right either but Riedel's Stroma, I believe can be a fibrous varient of Hashimoto's Disease. In other words, it causes tumors on the thyroid gland that are fibrous-tumors and sometimes also have cyst type structures inside them. I'm not even sure if it is more serious than the more common Hashimoto's, if it requires thyroid removal or if it even causes any additional symptoms or not. Anyone else out there know more?
Reidel's thyroiditis is uncommon, typically with normal or low-titre antibodies and often normal thyroid function. the problem is fibrosis that involves surrounding tissues. The gland is usually very firm to palpation and FNA (biopsy) MAY help with the diagnosis. Surgery is sometimes necessary.
