I was hypothyroid 15 years ago. I was very symptomatic, had a goiter and several small nodules. I rec'd treatment, felt better. After a few years, primary care Dr. stopped synthroid treatment since my lab values were normal. Now I am 48 and have all the symptoms of increased BMR and catecholamine sensitivity. I am heat intolerant, restless, several BMs/day, heavy and slightly increased heart beat (80s), insomnia and fatigue. All of which is VERY unusual for me since I am usually sluggish, cold and constipated. I wake up several times a night because my heart is pounding.
My blood pressure was usually 110/60 or so and now has been measured at 137/60! My last TSH BEFORE these events was 4.0 and had usually run in the high 2s, to 3. My 2 TSH values since these symptoms are 1.2 and 1.7. My T3 and T4 are "normal" and I do not have elevated Abs. In fact the current endo said I have never had Hashimoto's based on the current labs and that my goiter and symptoms must have been coincidental. AH! I feel terrible, what is wrong and how do I proceed?
Thanks
Sheila
