THYROID CANCER???

Does any one have a similar thyroid tumor ?? I
I had I guess you could say moderate growth! It started out at 8mm with no calcifications single solitary hard nodule. In 9 months it doubled and grew one large Calicification. My FNA report had the same cells found in both but I needed to be seen now in 6 months because of it and could not rule either out. I went back this past January for my 6 months follow up and it doubled again but this time it was the the first number out if the three measurements. My doctor is now showing concern saying if it grew its not supposed to grow like this at all. It's vascular and the calcification grew to half the size of my nodule! Please tell me if this puts me at a higher risk catagory? I'm asymptomatic and still am.  since jan she now wants to see me again in 3 months! I doubt the next step is one month follow ups! I REALLY don't want surgery nor can I afford it.

Thank you!

The dr. said it didn't grow in 3 months. Then I got my report back and It said

1/3/12- 1.45 x 1.11 x 1.71cm
4/3/12- 1.49 x 1.18 x 1.75cm

In 3 months I shouldn't see any change b/c it's slow growing and too short of a time span.. right??

I wish my dr. was a little more honest with me. any time I bring someone with me she clams up and gives me a patronizing look.

Nodules with calcification that are growing in size are potentially concerning.  However the fine-needle aspiration biopsy has not been definitive.  One option is to have the slides read by an expert, another option would be to repeat the biopsy.  At this point from what you are describing there is no compelling reason for surgery but this situation does need close monitoring and followup.
