For 55 years I have always been slim and fit, very active. In one year, with no change in my diet or exercise, I gained 25 pounds, developed a low, husky voice, lost the outer 1/3 of my eyebrows. My cholesterol went from 200 to 280, my bone density got worse. I barely had enough energy to finish a work day. My eyes are puffy, I wake up feeling as tired as I was when I went to bed. My blood pressure is less than 100/50, my heart rate is in the 60's. I have been to MANY doctors, including endocrine and here's the problem. My T3,T4 are low normal, my Thyroid antibody is 600...but my TSH is <0.01. One doctor totally ignored my symptoms and put me on Tapazole to 'slow' my thyroid. Within one month I could not lift my head off the pillow and almost lost my job. Can ANYONE explain this to me?? I think I need synthroid but no doctor will listen to me.
