Postpartum Thyroid problems

History: I have been treated for hypothyroidism since I was 17.  My prescription is Synthoid .125.  I am now 27 and gave birth to my son 3 months ago.  I am exclusively breastfeeding.

For the past month I have been experiencing extreme episodes of vertigo.  I first went to the eye doctor and vision is fine. I then went to the ENT doctor and he thought it might be an ear virus or calcium deposit and prescribed vestibular exercises.  Last week I had my TSH checked by my OB and it was .2.  I went back for T3 and T4 and am awaiting the results.  Two days ago I had an MRI which I am also waiting to hear the results of.  Today I am thinking that perhaps my prolactin may be off balance, perhaps due to the combination of hypothyroidism and the breastfeeding, perhaps causing some sort of prolactinoma, but this is just my current theory.  Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you.

Prolactinomas do not cause vertigo typically - MRI will help the pituitary evaluation.  Usually the Synthroid dose decreases to pre-pregnancy dose - so 0.125 may be too much (TSH of 0.2 is a little low).

Thank you for your response.  The .125 is the pre-pregnancy dose.  I will wait and see what I find out from the results of T3 and T4 tomorrow.  Do you think I should push for the prolactin test?
