Thyroiditis after ablation

Oblation performed last summer.  Thyroid tissue still present.  Lately I have been tired and have throat pain in the area of the thyroid and have frequent headaches.  I have gained weight despite exercise.  I am currently on .75 mg of Synthroid.  I had the ablation due Graves disease with multinodular goiter.   Could thyroiditis still be a possibility at this point?  If not, any other explanations?   The weight gain is very frustrating and the throat pain is pretty constant.  If ablation is done again, what are the chances of thyroid storm or other complications?  Thanks again.

Hi, I had RAI ablation in 2004 and my TSH stayed suppressed for quite some time after. The Ft4 dropped followed by the FT3. I read the TSH can be suppressed for quite some time because of the antibodies.

I presume your TSH is being monitored and is at target of around 1.0 -- there is no reason at this point to think about repeat I-131 based on what you mention.  Would consider thyroid ultrasound and close TSH monitoring/synthroid adjustment at this point.  If the I-131 was a year ago, it is unlikely to be causing symptoms now.
