Toxic nodule

I am a 29 year old female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism due to a single toxic nodule 6 months ago. I have EVERY symptom associated to it. I had RAI 3 months ago, I did well for 2 months after and now every symptom had returned. My throat is swollen again, I have a hoarse voice and absolutely can not find the strength to get out of bed. I have seemed to stump my endocrinologist, since my case is rare. My question is: should I seek a different doctor and I feel like I am to the point where I need it removed for it had negatively affected every aspect of my life. My levels did drop since treatment, but I am still hyper and now it seems as though the nodule is growing again. I have been in this revolving door for some time now; many DR visits, urgent care and ER visits and they all seemed stumped! I can't keep living my life in bed feeling this horrible. Any suggestions?

To answer your question -YES, you should see a different doctor.  It is YOUR life.  If your endocrinologist is stumped, then you need to see someone who may be more familiar with your type of problems.  I live in a small state with low population.  It stands to reason that the doctors here have not seen as many cases as doctors on large metropolitan areas.  I chose a teaching hospital, that is well known for research.  I thought of it as like going to see "House"! I wanted someone who has seen what I have millions of times before, and knew what was best for me.  I hope this helps.  I'm just telling you what I would do.

Are you having hypo or hyper symptoms? What medication are you on? What are your current levels?

Many people have to have RAI treatment more than once for graves/hyper/toxic goiter. It does not always work the first time. Trust me I know...

I had the RAI for hyper/graves/toxic goiter which gave me thyroid storms. I had the RAI but hit another thyroid storm so I had no choice but to have the TT.

You will have to learn patience because it has been 19yrs for me and still having dosage issues...

Hi....  Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, Hyper is a nightmare so hopefully you will get better soon.

This may be abit forward but I don't understand if your symptoms have come back and even worse then before, why you haven't had the option to remove your thyroid?? Or atleast are you having tests, ultra sounds etc to find something??

The whole thyroid issue is a confusing one for everyone with a problem with it. Although you don't want to hear it... Be patient.
