Ultrasound and berium swallow test

My family Dr is sending me to the the thyroid and Gastro. My ut results showed I have several nodules on my thyroid and some in my esophagus it also shown I have a hernia in my esophagus an I have acid reflux.My Question is there a good chance I have cancer of the thyroid and it has spread to my esophagus? I didnt even have symptoms of acid reflux. He has put me on meds for it .

Thyroid cancer rarely spreads to the esophagus.  I am not sure what is meant by nodules in the esophagus - the GI specialist will likely need to put a camera into the esophagus/stomach to see what is going on (aka endoscopy).  Sometimes nodules in the thyroid can push on the esophagus and cause swallowing problems -- perhaps this is what is happening.  

Depending on the size/appearance of the nodules, FNA biopsy may be necessary -- about 5-10% of thyroid nodules are cancer.

Thank you for replying to my question. I had to do the barium swallow test because I told my Dr I was having trouble swallowing even water. I am keepiing a raspy voice and constantly clearing my throat.
