Thank you for replying to my question. I had to do the barium swallow test because I told my Dr I was having trouble swallowing even water. I am keepiing a raspy voice and constantly clearing my throat.
Thyroid cancer rarely spreads to the esophagus. I am not sure what is meant by nodules in the esophagus - the GI specialist will likely need to put a camera into the esophagus/stomach to see what is going on (aka endoscopy). Sometimes nodules in the thyroid can push on the esophagus and cause swallowing problems -- perhaps this is what is happening.
Depending on the size/appearance of the nodules, FNA biopsy may be necessary -- about 5-10% of thyroid nodules are cancer.
