I went to the doctor in July it is now November and finally got my doctor referr me to specialist. I First went in and my ths level was .150 and another was run ths .084 t-3 184 and the t-4 10.4.(the t3 and 4 are in the normal range) My symtons are heart palpataion, muscle aches mainly in my thighs and arms, chonic diareha, and skin tingling.  Had a heart monitor and now am on a beta blocker. My normal blood pressures is 90/50. My pusle rate high and my blood pressure low and sometimes dropping lower.  I feel much better now I am on the beta blockers it seems even the dirarrea is better since the beta blocker I still get some heart palpatations.  Iodine uptake normal. Multi nodular with one nodule 1/2 cm. I am having a biopsy Monday. My question is if my uptake levels are normal Why is my ths so low.  If my biospy comes back fine whats next. CONFUSED? I just assumed the nodules would be hot and now that there not I don't know what to think.  My grandmother had her thyroid removed goiter non cancerous.

You have hyperthyroidism based on low TSH and normal T4/T3 -- this is called subclinical hyperthyroidism.  The uptake value is only useful to determine the cause - normal or elevated means Graves disease or a functioning nodule.  FNA can be helpful, but a 0.5cm nodule is usually not biopsied as it is very small.  The chance of cancer is very low.

Maybe you should have a thyroid uptake test.  i had one and I went for ages losing my hair and all types of symptons until my pulse went to 118 and I went to the doctor on call and he checked my magnesium, potassium and thyroid and all of them came back wrong and he told me to see my doctor on Monday and I did and he said any of those things could have caused my symptons but I had all 3 wrong.  I am on magnesium, potassium and also armour thyroid and had the ablation but still my levels never seem to get right.  It is very frustration after 4 1/2 years but most people do not have as much trouble as I have experienced but then I am sure there are some that has more.

Good luck to you.  Push for some other testing.
