hypothyroid recovery

I have Hepatitis C, and was on SOC tx, discontinued at 40 weeks d/t low cd4. My thyroid, remained in the normal range until the last month, where my tsh went up to 9. Does this usually correct itself, or should I see my doc and get on synthroid? One of my concerns is I seem to be gaining weight fast this last month. Any other symptoms I can't tell as I'm still feeling the effects of tx. Hairloss, cold, fatigue.

Hypothyroidism can be casued by the interferon in the HepC treatment -- TSH of 9 needs evaluation, but if you are off HepC treatment, then repeating the thyroid levels (and testing thyroid antibodies to look for autoimmune thyroid disease) 4-6 weeks after the initial abnormality is reasonable before committing to treatment.  The symptoms are suggestive of hypothyroidism, so treatment may be necessary.
