They have to do the biopsy to know anything, sorry you have to go through. I hope you find out something soon. God bless
I guess it depends on the dr. from what I have read is that most of the time its a fine needle biopsy may be the next thing for me too. I have enlarged thyroid but dr didnt feel any nodules had the blood work done and ultrasound done. Now to wait.. Best wishes
Hi.Honestly I had a biopsy on my thyroid, didnt hurt at all.I understand your anxious but I was more anxious of the wait.I do need to have surgery. On the end of the day,you do whatever you can and if that means getting a biopsy, then just do it.You'll be fine.

has anyone had a needle biopsy. what is it like. i want to be put to sleep. i will freak out with a needle in my neck..... nikki and everyone here the best to you all. we are all in this together. everyone let's keep in touch.
It is best to have an ultrasound and ultrasound guided biopsy by a surgeon or endocrinologist who routinely does this in his/her own office.
This will give the most information on what to do next.
90% of these situations are benign nodular goiter (ie, not cancer).
Had fine needle biopsy just this morning. After reading that it would be painless, I was relaxed going in. Under ultrasound guidance in the endocrinologist's office only the largest nodule was biopsied (it was 1.2 cm) the other nodules were too small.
I'm pretty good about needles. But thyroid biopsy was quite an uncomfortable experience. Dr. did not numb the area & used 5 needles for 5 different samples of the one nodule right in the center of my thyroid and to the right. The stick of the needle was nothing but positioning the needle and grabbing the sample was a little painful for me. It felt like he was pumping the syringe 4 to 5x with each sample... I hope I don't need to have a repeat FNA .. Ask for a numbing shot or topical numbing. :(
hi i have an appointment in two weeks with a surgeon in his office. i wonder if he will biopsy there
