am concerned

my mum has been diagnosed with hyperthyoridism. i am a genetics student and know that this can be an inherited disorder, i looked at the symptoms of both hypo and hyperthroidism and 90% seem to apply to myself. i eat a very healthy diet and excercise daily at a gym but i cannot seem to lose any weight, i seem to put it on. also at 19years old, i only have periods about 4/yr, when 4years ago they were clockwork regular. i have been experiencing pain in my leg muscles, and always want to sleep. should i see my doctor??

You should have your thyroid levels tested to see if your symptoms are due to a thyroid problem.  In many studies, only 30% of people with "classic" thyroid symptoms have laboratory abnormalities supporting a thyroid problem.

yes hon thyroid disease does seem to run in families. You have symptoms of hypo, I'd get a thyroid antibody test along with free t-3 and 4 and tsh.
