I just got diagnosed with Thyroid Goiter Nontoxic Multinodular

I have 2 nodules on the left Thyroid and 1 nodule on the right Thyroid. I took a fine needle biopsy of one of the smaller ones on the left because they saw a suspicious blood flow. With only one biopsy they saw no cancer.
They saw something called a Follicular Lesion that they said there is a 20% chance risk of cancer.
The sizes of all three nodules are very small according to them. Right Thyroid Lobe: L 4.7 W 1.6 H 1.6CM.
A single heterogeneous nodule in the mid portion of the right thyroid gland measuring .3 by .3 by.1cm and no increased vascularity. The left Thyroid Lobe measures L 5 W 1.3 H 1.2cm. Multiple nodules are seen. The largest measuring  1.3 by .8 by.7cm and is in the mid portion of the left thyroid gland. This nodule appears heterogeneous.
shows no vascularity. The second smaller nodule on left thyroid appears Homogeneous and Does have increased
Peripheral flow. Isthmus measures 2.4mm  Now what i need is a healthy opinion from what you read here should i go ahead and get a Thyroidectomy? I know about my options of every 4 to 6 months repeat biopsy's and ultrasounds but they told me that wouldn't change what they saw in that one nodule on the left that has a blood flow. They also told me they won't know the rate of the blood flow,so it could take the nodule a short time or a long time to grow. Well i have major anxiety and panic disorder and i don't really want to maybe wait months and then find out when i'm in my late 40's,50,s or 60's that i will need a surgery. I'm just thinking i'm 40 now and young and pretty much healthy and can tolerate surgery now and maybe heal faster. I asked 3 of my friends and they thought i should get the Thyroidectomy to ease my worries about is it or will it be cancer or will i grow other nodules. So please give me a good healthy opinion cause if i'm going to do the surgery i want to do it this Summer 2012 and were already in May. Thank you for your medical support.

This sounds like a small nodule.  Increased blood flow may not be as suspicious a feature as once thought.  I would consider the Afirma test in a situation like this in hopes to observe with periodic ultrasound and not have diagnostic surgery.  Afirma can be done by your thyroid specialist and involves another FNA procedure on the nodule in question.

Thank you for your advice and getting back to me in a good amount of time. I'm not sure what an AFirma test is, I do know what an FNA test is and my Head and Neck Surgeon did give me those same options of going back every 4 to 6 months and getting the Biopsy's and Ultrasounds done.
I guess this sounds best but it just seems annoying to go through all those Biopsy's and Ultrasounds for so many months. I have researched and talked with other woman on blogs here on this sight and they say it's a tough process living without any Thyroid at all. They say if i don't have any Thyroid problems like Hypo or Hyper Thyroidism and it's just the the Nodules and no cancer was found with the Biopsy, that  it's better to wait and just get checked every 4 to 6 months. I think after everyones advice on here that's what i feel is better for me right now too. I was just worried about being older later on down the line and getting the surgery, they say it doesn't matter wether now or then i will feel the same effects with surgery and heal the same. Thanks again for your Healthy Advice. I'm gonna tell my surgeon i changed my mind. I'm not gonna do surgery unless i have breathing problem or swallowing problem. Have a wonderful day.
