A few months ago, while playing basketball, I hit heads with one player of the opposite team when he reached in for a steal while I was driving to the hoop. The hit was placed above the right ear. The collision was not really strong and aside from the pain of the hit I didn't have any confusion or any other symptom and I went playing and finished the match. ( the rest of the people present didn't see at as very serious either). Afterwards there was some swelling at the point of impact and of the muscle that is situated there. Now, what complicates things is that I had done some reading about concussions and the related symptoms(I am a medical student) and I was really hoping not to have one since I'd read it can cause lasting impairments. The next days I had no real noticeable symptoms aside form an irritation from the microscope light at a histology lab. Another symptom was a mild headache when I was tired but I do not know whether this can be attributed to the hit or to me feeling overly anxious over a possible concussion. Do you think a concussion is a possibility? Any feedback would be very welcome!
Your symptoms appear to be more stress and soft tissue related than a concussion. If you had an injury near the ear and are looking through a microscope then your muscles around the eyes tense up. This alone can give some people headaches. Also, after an injury, it is expected that you will have some discomfort for days.
Take care!
