Cracked Cranium

I am fifty years old and in good health.  When I was a child (about 2 years old) I was involved in a minor auto accident with my grandfather.  He told me that I hit the dash of the pick up extremely hard.  Based on what he told me and the indentation I can now feel in my head, I'm wondering if the accident would've caused the damage.

My family was particularly crude and did not get me to a hospital after the accident.  So, there is nothing on my medical record for me to go back to.

Or could there be another reason that the right side of my head is depressed, and I can feel an actual separation of the cranium.

I was abused as a child and getting accurate answers out of my family is not possible.

I would appreciate any answers you might be able to offer about the cranial abnormality.

Dr. Srivastava,

Looking further into the infant/cranial sections, I find that the crack is probably the coronal suture.  However, at the top of my head on the right side, is a depression, where the coronal suture begins.  On the left side of my head, there is smoothness, no depression or cracks.

I have had, all of my life, a tendency to "wake up in a new world" often.  Indicating a bit of absentmindedness.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Cracked cranium could occur most likely due to an accident. After healing there may be a scar or indentation (If injury was severe). However, essential thing is what kind of neurological symptoms you are experiencing. If you are not experiencing any symptoms then you might be lucky and need not to worry further. Additionally, depressed or cracked cranium may occur since birth as well. In case you experience any symptoms please consult a neurologist. Hope this helps.
