slowing time down

This thing happens to me like I am in a different state of mind. It is very difficult to explain and I'm not sure if I can explain it. It's kind of like depersonalization or derealization if you know what they are but with other effects. When this happens, everything turns slow. Someone could be throwing a ball at me but it will be blurry and look like it's in slow motion. Because of this, I can easily move out of the way or catch it. Sometimes when this happens, I will see someone hit me while they are trying about 2 seconds before it happens and can stop and prevent it because I both see it happen before it does, and I see it in slow motion. This has done some positive things for me and it may seem like a good thing, but it is so incredibly horrible and such a horrible feeling and I just hate it when it happens. A period of 1 minute can seem like an hour and I could have a whole school period and when it is over, I feel as if it happened a year ago. It usually lasts for a half of day or so but it is reoccurring.

It feels as if my mind is split or as if I have two minds at once. Like one mind is in regular time, but in slow motion, while the other is seeing things in the future ahead of time about 2-3 seconds before they occur. I can incorporate the 2-3seconds before the occur mind into the regular, yet slow motion mind and see when things happen ahead of time. I can tell I am seeing ahead of time because I can prevent quick things. Things seems really cloudy and unreal when this happens too, like a dream.

I have spoken with doctors, but they either tell me that I am imagining it, tired, or don't take me seriously. This is way different from tiredness or imagination and I know something is wrong. Do you think this sound like part of depersonalization/derealization, or something completely different? What could be wrong with me?

I AM NEW TO THE BRAIN INJURY, HAVING SUFFERED A MASSIVE INTERCRANIAL HEMORRHAGE LAST SPRING.  IN COMA SIX WEEKS, HOSPITAL TWO MONTHS, AND REHAB HOSPITAL EIGHT MORE WEEKS.  I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR INJURY WAS, BUT IN MY CASE THE BRAIN WAS BLEEDING NEAR THE OPTIC NERVE.  I STILL HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH DEPTH AND TIME ORIENTATION AND PRECEPTION.  IN FACT I DECIDED TO STOP DRIVING AFTER LIKE YOU I SAW OTHER CARS MOVING AT DIFFERENT RATES OF SPEED, AND THEN THEY WOULD DISAPPEAR AND APPEAR AGAIN.  ONCE RIGHT BEFORE I STOPPED DRIVING I WAS IN A PARKING LOT SHOPPING, I REMEBMER PULLING INTO A SPOT, AND IT WAS LIKE I WAS DRIVING FIFTY MILES.  WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE STORE I SAW A LADY IN A CAR IN FRONT OF ME STANDING NEAR DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER OF HER CAR.  SHE SAID SHE WAS ACTUALLY IN HER CAR AND I HIT IT, ALTHOUGH SLOWLY, AND DAMAGED IT. AFTER I APOLOGIZED, I TOLD HERE I ACTUALLY NEVER SAW THE CAR EXCEPT WHEN I THOUGH IT WASS PULLING AWAY FROM ME.  WHEN I CALLED MY NNEUROSURGEON HIS P.A. SAID THIS WAS NOT UNUSUAL IN PAITENTS WITH BLEEDS NEAR THE OPTIC NERVE.  IT CAN DISTORTE TIME, SPACE AND DEPTH PERCEPTION.
ACTUALLY I GOT USE TO NOT DRIVING SINCE I HAVE FOUR GROWN CHILDREN AND A GIRLFRIEND WHO LIVES WITH ME ALL DRIVERS SO I CAN USUALLY CATCH A RIDE.  I DON'T ,ISS CAR PAYMENTS, OIL CHANGES REPAIRS AND HIGH INSURANCE COSTS.  SINCE I LIVE IN A RATHER SMALL TOWN IF I DO NEED TO GET OUT WHEN NO ONE CAN DRIVE ME, I CALL A TAXI, AND THE OVERALL MONTHLY COST IS MUCH LESS THAN OWNING A CAR.
WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS IF YOU DID HAVE AN INJURY YOU LIKE ME MAY HAVE TO ADJUST TO LIFE CHANGES.  WITH THE PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING, AND I DON'T KNOW IF YOU DRIVE YOU MAY NOT WANT TO, AS IT SOUNDS YOUR REACTION TIME IS ALTERED, EITHER TOO FAST OR TOO SLOW.  I FOUND THAT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS ARE ACTUALLY BETTER EQUIPED TO DEAL WITH RECOVERY ISSUES THAN NEUROLOGISTS WHO ARE MORE ORIENTED TOWARDS TREATING ACUTE BRAIN PROBLEMS, BLEEDS, TRAUMA TUMORS ETC.
GOOD LUCK, AND WHILE I HAVE A LOT TO LEARN AND A LOT OF ADJUSTING TO DO I HAVE LEARNED IT IS BEST TO GO WITH THE FLOW.  I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT MANY DOCTORS SEEM TO BE SKEPTICAL ABOUT PATIENTS RECOVERY PROBLEMS SINCE THEIR ORIENTATION SEEMS TO BE MORE OF TREATMENT OF THE ACUTE LIFE THREATNING EVENT, WHICH M,OST DO WELL, AND THEY ARE NOT WELL EQUIPED TO FOLLOW LONG TERM RECOVERY AND BEHAVIORAL ISSUES.  THE PHYSICAL AND OCCUPTIONAL AND LANGUAGE AND SPEECH THERAPISTS SEMM TO UNDERSTAND PROBLEMS LIKE YOUR'S AND MINE A LOT BETTER THAN M.D.'S.
KEEP HANGIN ING.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You appear to be having an anxiety and panic disorder. This can cause you to feel disoriented with respect to time and maybe develop increased sensitivity to sound. Alzheimer’s disease, severe anemia, liver and kidney dysfunction causing brain fog, some mental disorders like schizophrenia could be the cause of your feeling disoriented to time.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!

How old are you?

It seems unrealistic... you are either making things up or something very strange is happening to you! Due to "school" I would say first more probable...

Slowing time is possible by high activity of brain when in immediate danger but it lasts for very short time...

It would be very interesting to discuss about this with you, I am open minded but I am afraid even that can't make me believe everything you said...
