Operation was thursday evening-Sept 18th-surgeon and nuerologist said it was most likely due to swelling from surgery. He has not been on anything like mannitol but has been on steroids, which they increased due to mental confusion after op. What would a ct show? Im really hoping this is temporary. Thanks for any helpful info.
Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Loss of peripheral vision can occur due to pitutary tumors compressing 2nd cranial nerve, parietal lobe tumors, cerebral edema, increased intracranial tension etc.
In your child's case due to tumor and as well as surgery there can be chances of cerebral edema. With the use of medicines like mannitol cerebral edema usually comes down with a week's time. How long has it been since your child underwent surgery and is he on any medication?
Inspite of using medication if the vision does not improve then get a CTscan brain done and visit a neurologist.
All the best.
