Burning sensation in my left Thumb

about 2 years ago, i had shingles in my left thumb which was a surprise to me as i had never heard you could get it in your thumb, since then, i keep getting a burning sensation in my thumb in the same place that the blister was, what could cause this, does shingles affect nerve endings or is there some other reason why this could be happening??

Hi debs44, I am not a doctor but I have had shingles before and what you have sounds like what they call post herpetic pain.  I had shingles in a pattern over and under my shoulder and arm and down my side and for weeks BEFORE my bumps showed up I was using a heating pad every night.  If I was you I would talk to my doctor and he will tell you what is the best thing to do for this.  I guess some people get pre rash pain and others get post rash pain.  Lucky us, huh?

Hope this helps,  suzi20071
