Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Well, joint pains with rash can be seen in SLE, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, polymayalgia rheumatica and chronic fatigue syndrome. Gout, though typically affects the great toe, can cause multiple joint pain with rash. Hashimotos Thyroiditis is another possibility. Hayfever and rheumatoid arthritis too should also be ruled out. Crohn’s disease is another possibility.
Another possibility is reactive arthritis, which could have occurred in reaction to something—in this case rash. In this case you need to rule out the cause for the hives or urticaria. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Food allergies like to gluten and alcohol too should be looked into. You may need to consult an allergy specialist.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!

Just a quick note to say hi! If your Mom has recently stopped the intake of sugar in favor of the NON-SUGAR - stevia, be aware that the Stevia is a deravative of ragweed! Most people are allergic to stevia and it can cause "hivelike" symptoms. If the hives become overbearing, try cooling the areas with aloe vera plant. Just cut off 3 sides of a leaf and pat it on to the affected area. Consider staying away from stevia. prayers are with you for a healing.

If the DR's have given her something to assist the allergy, then there isn't much more anyone can do other than sit back and let her body settle doan after the outbreak.

Meds DO help, but they don't get 'rid' of the hives. They're going to ich like crazy.

MAKE SURE she's not wearing any clothes that have strong washing powder on them, since this can make them worse. She needs to be practicly naked and coated in cooling meds to stop them from itching ( and when they do, it wont be for long )

It's just a matter of waiting and trying to tend to the things that frustrate her most.

What's she allergic to?
