Id like to thank you all for you posts, and i will write down arachnoiditis and mention it to my dr. I do have other symptoms that i did not associate with my ongoing pain. I was starting to think some of the things were in my mind but the symtoms i have read explain a few things now . I won't feel silly telling the dr now. I will def keep you informed. Many thanks.
It is possible, but it all depends on which radiologist reads your MRI. Did you have an epidural or a spinal tap or any injections in your spine? If so, you probably need to seek medical attention. An epidural or spinal tap can be done incorrectly and cause lingering back pain. I hope this helps and that you feel better soon.
I would also like to understand what you mean by 'needles'.
Were the needles for your hysterectomy or for back and leg pain? Were they steroid or cortisone injections or for an MRI?
Please respond and we might be able to help you a little better (although we are not doctors, we might have personal experiences that could give you insight..)
when you say you had needles in the back, do you mean in the muscles in your buttocks or in your actual back? I wonder if some nerve damage could have been done after the surgery?
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Low back ache is very common after spinal analgesia and repeated attempt to get the analgesia would cause more damage. Maintaining a good posture goes a long way in overcoming this type of pain. You can wear a lumbar belt to give support to the back muscles while you are working. Physiotherapy should work to strengthen the back muscles. Toxicity of local anesthetics and arachnoiditis can both be the cause for the back ache. See if your neurologist can rule out arachnoiditis. This may not be caught on MRI.
Usually a MRI will not miss a slipped or herniated disc.It could be that a radiologist missed the diagnosis.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
