Do you think this is arthritis?

Every morning or early morning I wake up because my hands are swollen and stiff. I seem to move them over and over until I wake up.  I have this numbness that is in my fingers and it doesn't hurt, but it feels funny and uncomfortable. I have other health issues, CLL, Auto immune Chronic Pancreatitis and cancer. I am also on pain medication, a patch, which I change every 72 hours, I don't know if this is what is causing the numbness or if it is arthritis I would be interested if someone who be able to tell me.

Thank you for your answer. I have been going to the doctors mainly because I have so many things going on. They think it might be arthritis, but since I have CLL, Auto Immune Chronic Pancreatitis and cancer, they seem to all say the same thing, that I have many things going on. I am on a pain patch 50 mcg every 72 hours and I also have pain meds for breakthrough pain. I am afraid to take the breakthrough pain meds because I think I should not be hurting the way I am on the pain patch. I worry that I will do more harm then good if I continue to take the pain meds. My husband disagrees. I know that stress will also increase my pain, especially in my stomach. The only time I take more pain medicine is when I get the pain in my upper stomach that takes my breath away. and only when I have more then one bout in a days times.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The various causes for swelling and numbness of hands are carpel tunnel syndrome, inflammation of the tendon of the hand due to repetitive work, gout, lymphangitis, deep vein thrombosis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. You need to consult a doctor and rule these out by blood tests, X-rays, nerve conduction studies, rheumatoid factor, ESR, etc.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
