Intense itching of the skin, peppery in intensity

My wife and I moved to tropical Malaysia where we usually keep the large French doors open all day allowing the wind to blow in from the garden. Most recently we've both experienced itchiness over the arms, legs and feet, almost peppery in intensity, which is relieved by washing. We can see no trace of insects, no bumps, no redness, just that intense itching in spots. We've used disinfectant on the floors, only to find that after eating our forearms and legs were itching - having come in contact with the dining table surface and chairs. It seems to be airborne, but I don't know if it is insect or a pollen or what. Any good ideas? Please. This is our second month here continuously and this itching has occurred only within the last few days.

Not dry skin, allergy or overexposure to strong light as we have lived in the tropics for some while, neither animal dander (no pets) or insects (none apparent because that's the first thing we thought and looked carefully). Spraying and wiping all household surfaces yesterday with a sanitizer has now cleared us of all symptoms.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It can be dry skin, fungal infection or even allergy. Urticaria or allergy is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Since you experienced an itch, just go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike you. Please consult a doctor. Take care!
