Pain in left back

I have for over a month been waking up with an ache in my left back behind the left breast area.  Sometimes I get a pain that radiates across to the middle.  Today, I woke up with it paining and it stil is.  Any ideas?  I mentioned this to the Dr, who didn't seem concerned.
