Pain under ribs left side

I've had a pain just below my ribs on the left for nearly two years now.  Its worse when i drink alcohol and eat fatty foods.  The pain is a dull ache, that doesn't hurt more when i breathe in. i have no other symptoms.

I've been to my doctors who gave me a liver/pancreas test, which came back normal.  Could this be problem with my spleen.  Has anyone experienced this or knows what it could be.  I would appreciate any advice.

You should consult with your PCP. I had a similar problem last year. I would hurt and bloat to the point that I looked pregnant when I ate and even when I didn't. I had a HIDA scan and it showed my gallbladder was only functining at 13% so I had it removed. (A HIDA scan evaluates the functioning of the gallbladder and the bile ducts.) Hope this helps.

Thank you for your comment.  Can a blood test reveal if there's anything wrong with my gallbladder or would i have to have an ultrasound? Thanks again :)

Generally they have to do an ultrasound.  The symptoms are so odd.  I know that every time I at even a bite of bacon I would go into a full attack.  Attacks can include aching, sharp pain, pressure and vomitting.  My doctor told me I had acid reflux.  It started when I was 5 months pregnant and wasn't diagnosed properly until after my daughter was born.  An ER doctor finally gave me the right diagnosis.  Hope this helps.  If anything, I would have the Doc. rule it out.

You may want to have your gallbladder looked at.  When I had gallbladder attacks it never hurt right in the area of the gallbladder.  It could pop up anywhere in my upper torso.  Sometimes it felt like a heart attach.  Your reaction to fatty foods is a definite trigger factor.
