Painful lump behind right ear

I have a lump on my head, behind my right ear.  It's about the size of a walnut. It's quite tender to the touch and painful at times.  I've had it for 2 days.  I have also been sick with cold (very sore throat and dry, consistent coughing).
I have read the possible things this lump might be, but how would one go about treating it?  I do not have insurance!  How would a swollen lymph node behind the right ear (on the head, where ear meets the head) be treated?

Many thanks!

Hello and thank you so much for your reply!  Yes, I have taken Advil and Tylenol, which has helped with the pain.  I will monitor and take myself to the doctor if it does not subside in about a week :)

I second this.  When you are sick, getting sick, or coming back from being sick your lymph nodes can get swollen and it can take a while for them to drain.  Give it some time, but if it doesn't go away you really should see a doctor about it.

Sounds like a lymph node.  This could possibly resolve on its own.  Have you taken anything OTC for this, i.e.  Ibuprofen, Tylenol?

There is NO "home remedy" for this.

If it hasn't resolved in a week you DEFINITELY need to consult a physician.
