From what I understand there are salivary glands inside the lip.  I sometimes get these little clearish bumps which come and go.

I get little bumps inside my lip from eating anything (like  candy, etc.) that contains  red, orange and some yellow, but mostly red,  from dyes, artificial coloring, etc.  Also have intolerance from drinks with these. I have even broken out on my feet from red dyes in shoes.
So I avoid all these problem areas.
