Twitching

How common is twitching before you go to sleep?  Lately, I have been noticing that when I am lying in bed preparing to go to sleep for the night my body twitches.  My hand/foot and I've never noticed this before.  Is this common or unusual?

my girlfriend twitches alot when shes falling asleep,i alaways know when she almost asleep because if it, i think its pretty cute really but im a little concerned too as to what could cause it, i am aware though that many people do that and it seems to usually be females, ive noticed when shes upset or stressed at all its worse dont know if theres actually a connection to that, i read once that it CAN be indictive of a neurological problem but that was on ONE website and ive never seen it mentioned anywhere else. my guess is its just the way your set up, no harm in mentioning it to your doctor though next time you see him, sometimes you might feel weird to ask about such miner things as that but doctors are used to it, never NOT mention something just cause it seems unimportant.

I too have had my leg muscles twitch after I have had them stimulated by massage or exercise. My muscles are atrophying due to a Neurological Disease (Charcot Marie Tooth Disease. When the nereves are over stimulated, the muscles twitch. I have even had my leg fly up in the air during the middle of the night.

Dear Sabie,  I never had that problem when I was pregnant.  I am only a elderly lay person but I really let your doctor know about this for the sake of the unborn baby.  Good luck and let me know how you make out.

No, not on any medications but I am 25 weeks pregnant so I don't know if that is a factor.

I'm 23 and don't suffer from any vitamin/mineral deficiencies and I twitch before sleeping all of the time.  Most of the time, I don't notice it but my boyfriend does and teases me about it :)  Sometimes I notice it but I'm not worried because my sister and my friends do the same thing.  ...so to put your mind at ease, I think twitching before sleeping is common and normal.  However, I think one of the messages on this post indicated that you are pregnant???  If so, then it's always a good idea to speak with a doctor about anything you find out of hte ordinary or of concern to you.  At least you can have peace of mind that your twitching is not harmful!  Good luck!
