Undiagnosable MRI Brain Lesions

Hi I am 48 years old.  I am a survivor of Breast Cancer for about 2 years now.  For the past year and a half I have been experincing numbness in left side of my face, eye.  I have had tremoring in the face, and hands.  The pain in my feet and legs is unbearable at times.  I have trouble keeping my balance as well.  Have had 2 Brain MRI's, the first showed White Lesions, but was undiagnosable, the 2nd showed significant increase in the White Lesions, but after, a spinal tap, multiple blood test, an Evoke Potential test, again it showed undiagnosable.  I also have eye problems, where I have blind spots, and multiple floaters across my eyes.  It is like a curtain across my eyes blocking my vision at times.  I also have severe fatigue.  By the time I get home from work I cannot do anything else.

Had an eye exam, and my eye is healthy, I do need glasses though.  The doctor said that he thinks that the floaters and some of my vison issues is due to the lesions in my brain.  It like my brain is misfiring.

I am so exhasberated about all of these symptoms, getting up every day in pain and not being able to see so well does get to you sometimes.

I have recently been through series of tests,  on Christmas day 2008  I developed numbness and tingling on the left side of my face.  No other symptoms have had 2 brain mri and spine mri,  evoked potential tests and several blood tests.  They found a small lesion pressing on my trigeminal nerve route near the brainstem and a positive HSV1 blood test,  still doing more tests an LP scheduled for next week.  The doctor is leaning towards ms,  but I have no other symptoms or fatigue,  the numbness has subsiding alittle.  I'm confused the neuro is scaring me and giving me no answers....

Maybe try an internist and forget the neuro for now. I mean I read the criteria about ms, and your mris alone are good data. What are they looking for? I don't get it. Are you in a bad area too where you keep getting the run around. HUG

I have unfortunately seen 2 different Neurologists.  They both said the same thing.  I just saw an Eye doctor who is sending me to a Neuro Opthalmologist but not until the end of May.  They did a Lumbar puncture, and my Evoke potential test was normal.  The doctor said that there are no signs of MS at this point.  Ugh, just don't what to do anymore.  They have not done an MRI on my spine, just the lumbar puncture.

Thanks!

I don't get your doctor. Multiple white lesions in the brain don't have to specifically be diagnosed to be considered as a sign of diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, etc. I am not trying to scare you , but if you have not already you should see a neurosurgeon or neurologist, and if you need a new one please go. Vision disturbances are another criteria for certain diseases like MS. Please please please get a new doctor and get checked for MS, Lyme disease, and other types of things that cause this. They probably won't need to run anything much but you still have an increase of white lesions within two consecutive MRI. Have they ran one on your spine. You poor thing, I really hope you can get the care you need and feel better soon. Peace
