Vaginal Ulcers--Perhaps some help!

I have just been reading through recent posts as I am new to this site. The Vaginal Ulcers caption stopped me dead in my tracks because I am very familiar with this condition. Here is my story and maybe some help:

I began with these vaginal ulcers when I was 13 --so an STD it was not. These would start as bumps on the vulva inside wall, the bump would then turn into an ulcer. I knew what it was because I suffered from apthous ulcers in my mouth from the time I was 8. Now having them appear around the vagina put me in a panic. I knew these Ulcers took 2 weeks to run their course and there is NOTHING you can do or take that will stop this once the Ulcer appears. All you can do is treat the symptoms. Now these were painful enough in my mouth, but in my vagina they were almost impossible to live with. They hurt when I urinated, walked, wore cloths and had to sit in class for an hour. Now if I were having sex?????.....well let's just say I would not be able to. At the time i had to use this God awful purple stuff called Jensun Violet. Swab the entire area and when home walk around with cotton under ware with the crouch cut out. This is at 13--I was mortified. I remember going into a fit when I would feel these bumps begin, knowing more were developing and it would be another 2 weeks of agony.

Fast forward to 15 yrs old--they stopped completey in the vagina, but continued to suffer from the oral ulcers , sometimes 10 at a time in my mouth. Fast forward to 20 years old--was told I needed to take 500mg of LYSINE daily. OMG it worked! To this day as long as I am taking my daily dose of Lysine I do not develope oral ulcers.

Now I do sometimes get them from dental work, and I have found ORABASE to be a godsend. You place a thin film over the area (works better at night for sleeping) and the pain is numbed. Also found that if I found one JUST begining (you know that stage) if I used the Orabase then it would stop them from forming ulcers--just go away.
Orabase is made to be used orally because saliva or moisture will not take it off the ulcer spot.

I know the profound pain these cause and it is stress related--sometimes mental stress sometimes stress to the area of gum of dental work. I remember when I quit smoking 3 packs a day my entire mouth broke out in ulcers I had 38 of themm and actually had to take a day off work because I could not even talk....quitting smocking was the most stressful thing I had gone through. SOOOOOOOOOO! using this information I would suggest ORABASE be used in the same way for vaginal ulcers as well as oral.........and you must take LYSINE. For some reason this keeps this viral attack at bay. My cat has a Herpes sydrome and as long as she uses LYSINE she does not get the colds this syndrome causes. So I know it must do something.

Look, try it --what have you got to loose except 2 weeks of pain. For those that have mentioned having the SAME ulcer for months--I have no Idea what that is, but what could it hurt by trying the orabase and Lysine combo.

******NOTE: It has to be the orabase PASTE.
Anyway that's my story, and I sure hope you try it and it works because  these ulcers are horrendously painful

GOOD LUCK
Let us know if this works for you!!!

I am glad that the medication has worked for you and I know you meant well.

Unfortunately not all medications suit everyone and of course it also depends on any underlying medical issues and other medications that a person may be taking.

I had a very bad reaction to Tramadol after just taking one tablet; these were prescribed to me by my doctor.

After many months on Ibuprofen (prescribed by my doctor), I had to stop taking it due to severe oedema.

Some people have allergies to amoxicillin.

Lysine also written as L-lysine, is an essential amino acid that is necessary for human health. The body can't manufacture Lysine so we get it from food or supplements.

Most people get enough Lysine in their diet.  Athletes and vegans who don't eat beans, as well as burn patients may need more.  Not enough Lysine can cause fatigue, nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, agitation, bloodshot eyes, slow growth, anaemia, and reproductive disorders. For vegans, legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) are the best sources of Lysine.

Thank you for your post.  It has enabled me to learn more about Lysine.  I think I will have beans on toast for my dinner. :)

Best wishes.

Wow! I have to admit I have taken Lysine for 30 years and never realized it could hurt your liver and kidney....and I know I never knew it could hurt pregnant or lactating women.

Very sorry to hear this and I was really just telling my story and apologize for not saying IN MY OPINION ONLY. I do make it sound like it is the answer and everyone should try it. Again meant no harm just hoping to help some people.

I will be more careful when commenting on this thread in the future.
Thank you for  the Warning!

LYSINE is not suitable for everyone to use.  People with kidney and liver disorders should avoid using Lysine and Pregnant and lactating women need to take caution when using this medication.

People with high levels of lysine in the blood or urine should not take Lysine supplements.

As with all medications, this one too has side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain as well as causing kidney disorders over long term use.
