Weak and Nauseous for 7 months

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some advice on this. I have been feeling "wrong" for about 7 months now. It started with extreme fatigue. ( I would wake up feeling like I had taken 10 sleeping pills) drowsiness during the day (My eyes were drooping, like I had drunk too much!)

For the last 6 months I have woken up with a sickly feeling in my stomach , like I have eaten something bad. This nausea comes and goes during the day, and often when I eat, I will have to physically stop myself from vomiting.

I also suffer from extreme weakness spells, where out of nowhere I will feel shaky and weak, as if I have not had anything to eat for 2 days or something. This feeling passes. I also seem to have lost a little bit of feeling in my right arm. It feels almost detatched from my body. I also suffer from brain fog most of the day. I have seen 5 specialists and have had nearly every test under the sun. CT, Endoscopy, 2 x blood tests involving Hep, HIV Thyroid, ANA ect. All these tests come up negative! According to modern medicine, there is nothing wrong with me!

Up until 7 months ago I was a happy healthy 27 year old female who loved going to the gym and eating healthy food. These days I can barely function without feeling physically sick/ weak.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks so much.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Commonest cause of chronic nausea is acidity. Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning)and antacid gel and see if it helps. I understand you have been through a number of tests but liver, kidney and adrenal gland function should be checked. PCOS should be ruled out. A gastroenterologist should be consulted to rule out Inflammatory bowel disease which consists of a number of conditions namely Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Crohn’s disease/Lactose intolerance. All are different problems and if no confirmatory diagnosis is reached, then it is called as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. A number of times a gastroenterologist is able to diagnose these conditions by clinical examination and detailed medical history. At other times a few tests are conducted. Blood tests to rule out anemia, stool test to look for white blood cells, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy etc are used to diagnose ulcerative colitis. Braium meal and follow through, endoscopy etc are done to rule out GERD, Crohn’s disease etc. Irritable bowel syndrome is diagnosed by elimination of other causes. Gluten is a complex protein present in four main grains---wheat, rye, barley and oats. If you have gluten intolerance, then you probably have celiac disease or Non Celiac gluten sensitivity. There are blood tests called celiac test to detect gluten intolerance. Crohn’s disease is a difficult entity to diagnose. Along with gut symptoms skin disorders and arthritis too are commonly seen with Crohn’s. An upper GI series using barium dye is done to see the condition of small intestines. The degree of involvement of the large and small intestine may vary from person to person.  A biopsy is the most confirmatory.
An elevated ESR does confirm inflammation in the body. Low protein, minerals and iron in blood are the other findings in Crohn’s which may or may not be present. A recent advancement in Crohn’s diagnosis is video capsule endoscopy.
Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
