I appreciate your response 'doctornee'! As far as the CMV & EBV there was no doubt as to the results. HIV tests have all been negative/NON-Reactive in Jan 2010 and again in May 2010, I also test yearly with my annual women’s checkup. How I contracted this CMV & EBV is beyond me though and also I am aware that I probably never will. I have been of good health all my life with only the occasional cold. I am more concerned now about the mold exposure as there are so many other things going on and to list all my symptoms would be like writing a novel so to speak. There are 6 others, so far, at my former workplace that are sick too. It all seems too coincidental to just ignore and dismiss that each of our issues, in such similarity, are not caused from the same thing! I worry about my test results and hoped to have some insight before my next appointment but I am very nervous to say the least. I am also very confident in my Doctor to guide me through this, he is quite the expert I must say! Thanks again and God Bless!
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You have both cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Ebstein Barr virus (infectious mononucleosis or mono) infection, both in the past and recent too as both Ig G and IgM (EBV VCA AB I guess both IgM and IgG are present) antibodies are high. Reactivation means both IgG and IgM are present as in your case. Both the virus remain in body throughout life This alone can cause chronic fatigue and recurrent flu like symptoms. CMV is often associated with HIV and this should be ruled out too. Antiviral medicines given intravenously at the time of infection are the only treatment.
Basically, you need to build up your immunity, by vitamins, antioxidants, healthy diet and exercise. Talk to your doctor regarding this. Take care!
