Another Penis Irritation Question...

Need some guidance ...

Overall a healthy male (39 y.o.) with no known issues.  About four weeks ago, I had a night of indiscretion.  It was a one night instant relationship ending just as quickly as it started.  It was the first interaction that I had had in four months.  We used a condom and I do not aware of any transfer of body fluids.

Later that evening, I questioned the encounter and reacted with extreme hygiene.  I showered, soaped, scrubbed, wiped down with an iodine solution, and an alcohol wipe that night.  Over the next two days, I repeated the alcohol wipe several times.  OK - so a paranoid over-reaction.

At the end of the week, I started burning during urination at the tip and in general the end of my penis burns continuously as if having been freshly wiped down with alcohol again.

Two weeks ago I went to a doctor.  As a precautionary measure from the description, he prescribed Cipro and Doxycyclene.  Initially the irritation got better, but at the end of the 7 day treatment of Doxycyclene, the burning started back and a little more aggressive.

About that time, I see a small swollen area along the opening of the penis.  During an erection, I looked at the swollen tip.  It appeared as if a fine patchwork lace of red across the darker flesh tone of the tip.  ... back to the doctor.

He prescribed a single dose of Diflucan for Candida yeast.  I am circumcised and have never had issues like this one.

As a precautionary step, I have requested a 7 panel STD test from one of those anonymous services.  I am waiting the results now; however, yeast or Candida is not one of the screens.

Now my questions -
-Is a single dose of Diflucan typically sufficient to knock out a male yeast infection?
-Are there any detrimental results of adding a vaginal cream like Monistat 7 as a topical treatment?
-Are there any other recommended topical creams that would be more effective than the Monistat 7?
-After reading about Candida and the frequency of occurrence in HIV positive people, can Candida by-products or toxins lead to a false positive HIV screen?
-How would I be able to differentiate between a Candida infection as compared to a possible Enterococcus infection?
-Do both require treatment to be corrected?

... and most importantly ...
Is it likely or possible that my initial over reaction of severe hygiene could trigger a Candida yeast infection even though the tip of my penis was protected by a condom and no direct contact with the woman's genitals?

Hi there.

I had some uro problems some months ago. It turns out there's nothing wrong with me as the tests didn't show anything specific. I was just anxious because I had sex with a sex worker, with condoms, of course.

Anyway, there are things you should know:
- don't use alcohol in your penis, never, it won't heal you;
- the burning sensation might be caused due to the skin reaction to alcohol;
- do not ask us about meds because we cannot do this, only YOUR MD;

I advise you to take a full set of tests. Talk to your MD.
But note that if you have intercourse with condoms, chances of getting an STD is almost ZERO. You might get an infection trough the other parts of the body, but this is rare.
