Bulbar Stricture

Hi,
Is it possible for bulbar stricture to occur and then get back to its normal form later ?
I had urine block 3 days ago, the nurses intersted tube but werent able to get it passed through since the urethera got narrowed. So, doctor came and did catherization (put urine bag). After a day without doing anything i was able to get things back to normal. He told I have bulbar stricture.

So, I wanna know if bulba stricture can come and go away on its own ?

Hello,
Opening the stricture with a catheter is just temporary and will not get the stricture permanently opened. If it is a small stricture then instrumental manipulation is needed but for permanent treatment, surgical treatment like urethrotomy and urethroplasty may be needed.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

I was never diagonized with UTI. I dont know how I ended up with bulbar stricture. May be it happened after cytoplasty i performed to get my prostrate checked.

hey, when you were disgnosed with a uti was there a sharp pain by your urethra but under the head with some redness that burns/itchesand also did you have a small bulging vein????? im wondering because i think i might have a urethra infection.

Hi Dr. Singh,
So does that mean the stricture can reoccur again ? This has happened twice with me and both times after catheterization for a day the narrowness resolved and I was able to go back to normal urine flow.

It looks like the narrowness comes, stays and goes away on its own.

Thanks

Hello,
A bulbar stricture means narrowing of the urethra caused by injury or disease such as urinary tract infections or urethritis. When the doctor has catheterized the urethra then instrumental manipulation can itself resolve a mild stricture.  If the symptoms persist then surgical treatment like urethrotomy and urethroplasty may be needed.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
