Constant Kidney Stone Pain

I have had kidney stones for about 5 years and I have been to the ER and doctors at times due to intense pain that at times cripples me because im not able to move. The doctors say that the stones are about 2mm and will eventually pass but I still have them after 5 years. I was prescribed vicodin for the pain but those have huge side effects on me. I suggest to them about having surgery either laser or the sonar that breaks them up but they say no. I have also tried various home remedies and everything but nothing seems to work and lately the pain is back and its interfering with my job. Is there anything to do or any doctor in the NYC region that can actually do something?

I'm a 46 yr old f/m and I've suffered with Calcium type stones since I was 13 . I'm seeing as I'm gettting older the pain is at this point an everyday morning thing , cramping in my right kidney , sick to my stomack alot from taking pain medications and overall feeling horrible unles I'm completly ( still and not moving ) .....effecting my Nursing career so bad that I've gone to a desk job just to not have to get up during the day . I would give just about anything to be rid of these stones so that I could live a normal life . I've tried herbal pain remedies , prescribed pain med's etc...............I currently have a 16 mm lodged and when my Dr .     Dr. Timpthy Thaller of Bulloch County went in to get it he couldn't find it so I'm assuming it is still lodged . I'm at a total loss as to what to do .

Hi,
For such small stones, even the laser therapy is not recommended. Usually, taking adequate fluids is enough for such small sized stones to come out. I’ll also suggest some regular exercise as lack of the same can facilitate the development of kidney stones. You should regularly do exercises which involves jumping like skipping the rope, basketball etc. Such exercises help in dislodging the stones and pushing them out. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
