How to prevent UTI?

Hi, I am a 21 year old woman. I have been getting UTI's all of my life. In my childhood, I was sick all the time. When I started to have sex, it became even worse. Does anyone out there have any knowledge of how to prevent this? Are there any new medicines in the market?

Hello,
Women are more prone to urinary tract infections but if you are having recurrent UTI’s then the cause needs to be found out. Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are changing sexual partners frequently, pregnancy, diabetes and of course childhood infections.

The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due t obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth, stones or diseases like tumors. Females are more prone to urine infections. So you should get a ultrasound, CT scan done and also some urine and blood tests after consulting a urologist.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

A lot of women see an increase of UTI's when first starting having sex. Something that might help is making sure you go to the bathroom right after.
