urinary urgency, I wanna ask Darrell if he found a solution in the last 7 seven years ?

Sorry if this is against the rules, but 7 years ago there was a discussion here titled : "Why won't anything work????"   http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Urology/messages/30254.html
- And there was a men Darrell with extremelly similar symptoms. If anybody knows a way I can e-mail him and ask him if he manage to found a way...
- Basically it is about urinary urgency when all the analysis came back negative. No enlarged prostate, no pain, no burning, no discharge, urine culture negative.
Only symptom is urge to urinate wich after taking many antibiotics (prescribed by the doctor even though the analysis was negative) the urge decreased.
I don't have the urge at night (like others do). Even when I was very bad and almost cannot leave the house because the urge were very strong, I still didn't have the urge at night. Cranberry tea didn't help at all.
When I drinked less water - this seem to help even though doctors recomend increase intake of water.
I am a male - 27 year old. Never had urinay problems before.

I am experiencing the same issue as described and cannot figure out what is wrong with me. I'm going to see my urologist to see what other tests can be done. Like you, I have no pain, no burning, no aches, no pains nothing. I just have this insane urge to use the restroom all the time. I actually go, but afterwards still feel like I need to go. It's infuriating. I'm able to sleep pretty much all night.

Things I've noticed:

Masturbation makes is much, much worse

I kept a food log, but nothing I drink or eat makes it worse or better.

When I'm busy I'm not aware of the problem, but driving home from work, sitting around, I'm aware of the pressure. I wonder sometimes if I'm going crazy.

It seems to get worse in the evenings, but this isn't always the case.

If you have a breakthrough, please let me know. Thanks.

Hmm ..I'm starting to see a pattern here. You are going to see your urologist. .. Let me guess what's gonna happen'. If you are lucky, he will find some infection wich can be cured with some antibiotics. If you are unlucky he will say that you are perfectly fine, and there's no reason to feel that way. And probably you are stressed from you work.
- I don't know what to believe anymore. At first, since my analysis came back negative, I thought that it's definitely not an infection. And not an infections also, because multiple antibiotics prescribed by doctors (two doctors) didn't cure me. But then, if not an infections, why the antibiotics removed much of the symptoms ? (even if they did not completely cured me)
- Also at first, I didn't found cases like mine. But now, after much search on google, I think I found almost 5 or more identical cases.
- I also can confirm that sometimes in the evening the problem is worse. And also in the days when the problems is worse, driving makes it even worse.
- I also have to add that maybe I should be happy, because in the last 2 or 3 weeks the problem seem to be less severe. I don't know why.

I have the same problem. I can also sleep calmly during the night. In my case the problem is less when im sitting or busy indoors. The problem comes when i have to walk or move from one place to another, i guess because of the anxiety of not having a toilet nearby. This has been like for 8 months. Ive been tested for STDs, Diabetes, and Urinary Infection, being all results negative. Im having in some weeks and Ultrasound.  Sometimes i feel it might be psychological but I dont really think so because I really have to go very badly, no matter how stressed or relaxed i am. Or is it just that im going crazy? I dont think so. What ive had to do is drink few water, and forget about alcohol and coffee, although ive never really been a heavy drinker of neither of those. As result all the time i go to pee the urine comes out very dark, concentrated, very few and with a bad smell. Sometimes i feel symptoms of dehydration because of this, like headaches and feel thirsty, but at least i dont have to be all day in the restroom. But i still have to go to every freaking toilet everywhere. Like every 2 hours. So since ive had this problem ive been avoiding going out with anyone as i dont want to look like an idiot having to go those many times. If there is any craziness i believe thats not the cause of this urinary frequency, but a result of it. another symptom that i have is that sometimes i say myself ok i need to go as the pressure is intense, and after i go i actually feel a major relief, like i can breathe better, even though i was not aware of having any tension before urinating. then i feel very good and happy and imagine that might have been the last time i had to rush to the toilet, just to go through the same 2 hours later.

hi boyblue, so after your diagnosis, did u receive any treatment, had some medicine prescribed or something? or is it like "yes it looks like your prostate has grown bigger so theres nothing to do"? and its true what u say about the doctor making you feel like going crazy only because they dont know what it is, which is of no help as it actually makes you feel like guilty for being ill. anyway thats what happens to me. what i dont understand is if until this i was completely and absolutely ok in that aspect how did it suddenly turn into this. i mean i would go 1 or 2 times to wee in a day. now i will go like 6 or 7 and thats scarcely taking liquids and having to rush it all the time and just peeing a little. the first thing that comes to my mind when i go out is will i find a bathroom there? i would like to know if there are any practical advices on how to deal with this problem ? ive reached the point of having to carry a bottle in my backpack so when i need to go and theres no near place i use that. i also make sure i visit the restroom every time b4 i leave and when there is one accessible although i dont badly feel the urgency. obviously i try to think about something else whenever i get the pressure but doesnt work. there is pressure. i am 27 y/o and this problem has really affected my life; i was a different person before having this thing, eh tbh this feels like being a disabled. blueboy or anyone else, any advice would be appreciated. thanks

The answer could be non- bacterial prostatitis. try broccolli treatments or researching the non-bacterial type using more home remedies

I am convinced that it is largely psycological. I have the urge to go all the time, and have had it for a couple of years now. When I first got it I was a heavy drinker and put it down to that. But since I have slowed down more and more, it has not changed for the better, in fact it has got worse.. and I came here to seek help.
As far as my theory of it being psycological, I have some reasons why:
1. Sometimes it goes away, even after it being VERY intesnse. Like I just accidently forgot about it.
2. I predict when I am going to be in a spot of pressure,, If I am going to be held away from a toilet, or in the presence of someone that I dont feel comfortable around. ie: when I feel most uncomfortable going -- THATS WHEN I NEED TO GO.
3. Meetings, exams, on dates, first impressions.. and I'm running every 30mins.
I also think that diet has a lot to do with it. Nothing in your stomach may have you jumping around a bit, feeling a bit week maybe.
My advice is to act out the worst possible situations in your head once, and be done with it. You cant let this run your life completely, or by my theory it will only get worse.... Or maybe I think these things because I am chicken to pee into a cup for a doctor... Ha, good luck mate I feel your pain.
Hope this helped

it seems that I found the only medicine that works for me. When I say it works, I mean it improves my condition like 60 or 70 % procent. Even that is better than nothing . The medicine is called Paveriwern and it is a german I think. You can look it up on google, maybe. Let me write the active ingredient also : fuid extract from schlafmohnkraut (translate it with google) . It is a plant.

And my doctor told me that it doesn't have any secondary effect. Because it is only a plant working like a sedative, only localized on the prostate thing. It even has a picture on the box showing the whole urinary tract..or something. It is a little expensive , like 20 Euro, and it only last one week or maybe 2.

I need to take 40 drops at once (it's a liquid) - and 3 times per day. But I discovered that even 2 times per day works. Sometimes it makes you a little sleepy.

- Now I also trying FLOMAX, because everyone saiz on the internet that it is the wonder medicine. But I am taking from 3 days now, without any improvement beside the already ones from Paveriwern.
- I will reply 2 or 3 weeks later here, about the flomax.

Hey guys thanks for posting your comments and experiences. Ihavetohaveanickname?, I really dont think it is psychological because even when i forget about it, i remember later there is something wrong when i see the color of my urine, which looks like TEA. That is i suppose because ive cut the amount of water i drink, and when i drink more again i am constantly going to the loo. For some time i also thought it could be psychological but now i see it really makes no difference in which circumstance i am, but how much water i drank, and whether i am sitting or walking. And in my case it does for example make difference the alcohol and coffee, with which it worsens a lot. So i drink nothing else but water and now and then a soft drink . But so Ihavetohaveanickname?, is it that u havent gone to the doctor for this? You know, it really bothers me to feel like an idiot having to go all time to the bathroom, so try to stay mostly at home. And now i have people all the time saying like errr 'you usually stay at home right ?'  and i go err 'yes i like it here'. Hahaha im a loser. Seriously it has hit me on the emotional. Georgemm, is that medicine that u mentioned available without prescription? Thats because in my case i havent been actually diagnosed nothing. Been under medical investigation for about a year, tested for Urinary infection, diabetes, STDs, and just a week ago had an Ultrasound of kidneys and bladder. All have been negative, including the ultrasound. So i feel like a complete loser as it would appear as i have nothing, and I dont even feel like going to the doctor again to say hey guess what i still feel the same. i guess i will just live for ever carrying my plastic bottle :(

Urine the color of TEA is a classic sign of blood in the urine. Have you considered going to a urologist for a cystoscopy and abdominal CT scan or at least testing a urine sample for blood?

I have had the urine test for blood, because the doctor said it could be a urinary infection. that was since the very beginning but negative. About being to the urologist i have, but havent had that scan that you say because my doctor asked for other analyses. As i said what i recently had was a Ultrasound of kidney and bladder. I dont exactly understand which test is for what, but in this case all was negative again. I dont know if this thing is comparable to the cat scan you say. Now i havent gone since then to the doctor because i dont really know what to say cuz all the time is like me saying NO, i still have the SAME PROBLEM, and sometimes they make me feel like if it is all psychological. so then i not only feel bad for my health, but also sad or guilty for being in such situation.

does anyone feel like a relief in the chest after urinating? i noticed that even though  i am not aware of it beforehand, after going to the loo, is like i could even breath better than before.

thanks

Sometimes, a urine sample will test negative for blood. Suspecting other problems, a urologist might order a CT scan, which shows what's going on in much greater detail than an ultrasound. Anyway, you know your body best and I would not let a doctor tell me it is psychological when I know something is wrong. Doctors are trained in evidence-based medicine and usually make a diagnosis within 30 seconds of meeting you. Your goal is to shake them out of that routine.

it is strange how people probably completely different...have the exact same simptoms.  Normally this is a rare condition. Having simptoms, without any infection, without an enlarged prostate..is not something that doctors meet everyday. At first I didn't found any any case like mine. But after a few months of searching on internet, I found at least 5 people with exact same simptoms.
medhelprequested   - I could use exactly the same words as you : The color of the urine. because I'm forced to drink less water. And at first I suspected some problem because of the color. But after that, like an experiment I tried to drink more water, then color change to normal..but it is terrible because you have to go always.

Alcohol and coffe didn\t worsen a lot, but definitelly makes it worse. And also when I slip less it is worse.

That medicine unfortunatelly it is only with prescription, but I think any doctor will prescribe it, because it not something powerfull, but it works from me. For now. I fear that maybe in the future it will stop working, if the problem will be worse.. Because the medicine it is not powerfull, I think it relaxes some muscle over there.

Also my doctor insisted that maybe it is all in my head. And maybe I'm stressed because of my work. And I explained to him that my work is very relaxing. But he insisted anyway.

The active ingredients translated in english with google is : sleep poppy herb . It is a liquid and you have to take it at least 2 time (better 3 times) a day, 40 drops at once. Tell that to your doctor because maybe in your country the medicine has another name.

Hello all, I am a little relieved I am not alone in this. I have the same symptoms as described above. I am 29 years old and the frequent urination came on out of nowhere. I have been urinating about every two hours and after I pee I feel a relief however the sensation shortly returns. I also have not experienced any pain or burning. I seem to be drinking more to quench my thirst lately (Work as an air conditioning tech in the Florida. Spend alot of time in the hot attics.) which in result increases the urge to urinate. I use to only pee 2-3 times a day now its all day long. I agree with the others I can sleep comfortably through the night without awaking to have to pee and at times if I am keeping busy I don't notice the urge as strongly. And if I do decrease my fluid intake it does help with the urge.

I have been to the walk in clinic and was checked for UTI, prostrate, diabetes, and blood in the urine. Every thing was negative and the doctor had no explanation for the symptoms. A week later I follwed up with my primary care physican and got the same results everything appears to be normal. He suggested there is possibly a  problem with my bladder and has suggested I see a urologist. He did reasure me he felt that there was nothing majorly wrong as the test all came back negative. He also suggested that I could await to see if the syptoms reside over the next few days before racing to the urologist. However, The symptom still exist so I planning on making an appointment with the urologist because I going freaking nuts with this frequent urge to pee. I will keep checking in and will update with the outcome of the urologist visit.

Hello, I've been researching this "urge to urinate" issue for a while and I am glad I found this thread.  Anyway, my problem started last November.  I was just lying in bed and realize I had to pee.  Nothing unusual but right after I got back, i had to go again.  Not that there was a lot of urine the second time, just a strong urge.  I have had the urge since then.  Went to a urologist and everything came back negative.  He says it's probably stress.  The only thing is my condition is not as bad as when I first got it.  I mean I still have the urge but the urge is not as strong as in the beginning.  Hopefully, someone here can find a good remedy.  Cutting down on coffe has definitely helped.

Same problems here. Been going on for 4 years.  Pee all day and sleep all night.  Mine comes and goes in 3-4 month cycles.  3 months pee all the time, 3 months normal.   I've had cystocopy, urinary dynamic, CT Scan.  Had full physical and blood work all normal.  Never an infection, blood in urine, or inflamed prostate.  Tried every OAB med. know to man as well as antibotics.  My urologist told me yesterday that he has no idea what is wrong with me so it has to be psychological.  He say its has to be anxiety & stress.  I say BS as I'm the most laid back person I know.  I don't know where to go next as the urologist says he can't do anything else for me?

I'm 21 years of age and have been dealling with this now for almost three years. I have been in and out of my urologist's office a few times but because i work on a ship i dont see him for six monthes at a time. I have done every test they have at the urologist. My doc now seems to think this involves nerves in the bladder that maybe damaged or "act up". This is the first thing, since possibly haveing an infection, that makes sence. What ever this is it really sucks because when it is bad i cannot sleep at all. This has definatly changed my life. It has made me stop drinking alchol because although it doesnt get bad right away after drinking awhile it will get bad again. I'm now on amitriptaline, which helps deaden acting up nerves.

It's me strobers. I finally started having some good days after several months of this hell. Of course, I completely gave up sex because that's what caused my problem to begin with. From April 6th until yesterday October 9th, I've been celibate and have had a few good days in a row when I felt just about normal. Besides refraining from sex, I've cut out all acidic foods, take Pre-lief which gets rid of acid in food (just in case) cut out all tea, coffee and alcohol. Now I'm back to where I was in April and am so, so, so frustrated. I'm going to go see my urologist in a couple of weeks for a prostrate ultra sound, but I know that it's going to be a waste of time. At this point it has to be one of two things. Either A. I have some kind of nerve damage that can't be measured by tests or B. I have a psychological problem. I have some questions for you guys. Answer truthfully as maybe if we pool our collective resources we can find a pattern somewhere. How many of you get worse when you have sex? How many of you have other physical problems that you are dealing with besides the bladder issue? Personally, I developed tinnitus and eye inflammation since my bladder issue started. How many of you have noticed that your symptoms are worse when you are sitting? How many of you have noticed that you are living your life around your problem? How many of you are prone to anxiety, pessimism or catastrophic thinking? We don't have to suffer alone or in silence. Let's try to support each other and get to the bottom of this.

i am male and 23, and for a number of months have had to live with the sensation that i constantly need the toilet. I do not need to go any more regularly, but because my bladder constantly feels full, i am forcing out urine just because i feel i have to. more often than not, there is very little urine, soemtimes none at all, and occassionally an ordinary sized stream. There is no blood, no infection, only pain is in the bladder but only because it feels so stretched, does sometimes feel worse when sitting. Does not feel worse after sex or masturbation but can sometimes make it harder to get erect. Basically it always feels like i need the toilet, regardless of whether i need to or not. This is affecting every aspect of my life. I cannot sleep at night, therefore i am unable to fucntion during the day. Does anybody know what is wrong with me. i feel isolated and depressed. i am desperate

Have you gone to see a urologist yet? That's what you should do first and really advocate for your health. If you are feeling anxious and panicky about the constant need to go, I would get on some anxiety meds. That's what I had to do because I was going crazy. I know what you are going through. Keep the faith.

Blimey I am surprised that anyone remembered that post. Well I am online trying to find answers again,so I will give you my story so far. I had all the urology tests etc. but noone ever got to the bottom of it. I became very down as the situation was going on for months. I would say about 10-12 months later the symptoms started to relent, over time my symptoms of frequency  declined from what I would say on a scale of one to ten about 10 to maybe a 1 or 2. For the past five or so years I always knew it was there but my symptoms where very, very mimimal even where I considered myself to be back to normal and even where some of my freinds would go to the bathroom and I would think wow that hasn't been long since they last went! I had 2 more kids = 3, got a new job and did normal things. 1 month ago I had a UTI, I know this because I had a slight pain, frequency and it was hard to pee but it sounds funny but these symptoms were different from the ones before. after temethroprim it went away and I went back to normal. Now my frequency is back about every five minutes but it feels different than when I had the (proper) UTI. I have a docs apptmnt next week for a chat. It can get me down but I have consololation that it cleared up considerably last time and I hope it will again. I have been under stress lately and Ithink that has a lot to do with it. Keep your chin up it will go eventually. Please update me with your story. Best regards. Darrell
