Is it an infection or is there something wrong with my urine system

I've been having problems with the urinary tract for almost 9 years now.I have constant feeling of burning and aches in the tract after urinating or all day long.Sometimes there are periods of couple of days or weeks when I fell fine but then again I have every day problems. The confusing part is that my urine is sterile ,no bacteries are found and there are no visible signs of infection. I would like to know if it is a boring infection that can not be easily treated(although there are not any physical signs of that) or is it something genetic or just something wrong with my urine system. If you have any advise I would be grateful. Please help me. Thank you.

Hi,

Suffering from 9 years is so horrible and how you controlling the pain? It's ok I suggest you bladder control products which are very helpful to you to control the urine..

My friend also suffered a lot  from urinary incontinence she supposed to use that bladder product, now she is free from that. I think you can also try  that one...

I too am having the exact same issue, since I was in year 6, I am now in my second year of university and finally trying to get it sorted as it has only worsened over the years. I have a consultation with a urologist this week and then the next stage is a cystocopy. I have the continual burning sensation of the pee hole area, currently I've had it for 4 weeks with minimal relief and only Panadeine Extra for the pain. I don't know what could be the cause but I hope I don't have stones :S I've had numerous tests and ultra sounds done with everything coming back fine. I completely sympathise and if I get any answers I will let you know.

All the best x

The problem is that I have already done the ultra sound three times and there is nothing...no sand or stones. And also I have done several gynecological examinations and the doctor said that some not so serious gynecologic problems that I had in the last 5/6 years have nothing to do with the constant urological problem. Not only have I tried a variety of antibiotics but also herbal mix teas, cranberry etc. doesn't seem to help me very much. Especially the cranberry, I guess because of its acid reaction in the urine.
That's why I feel so hopeless :(
Thank you

Hi,
Burning urination may not always mean a urinary infection and it can occur due to other causes also. For e.g. presence of stones in the urinary tract can give rise to burning urination. I’ll suggest you to get an ultrasound of the urinary tract done to rule out a possibility of stones in the kidneys/ureters/bladder. Also to get a gynecologic examination done and rule out a gynecologic reason for the same e.g. vaginitis.
Occasionally, using a particular variety of soap can also cause burning urination due to the chemicals in the soap.
I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
