left tedticle swollen.

This past monday i noticed a lil discomfort in my left testicle when i would step up on scaffold at work. I really didnt think anything of it as i thought i was just steping up wrong an my it was barely getting squeezed between my legs cuz thats what it felt like an i didnt have any discomfort any other time. well tuesday i noticed it doing it again an when i stuck my hand in an on my sack i noticed that the left testicle was twice the size of the right one an real tender to the touch. i went to the er after i got off work an they diagnosed me with epididymitis an wrote me a script for 20 doxycycline hyclate 100mg cap taking 1 every 12 hrs for 10 days. an also gave me an antibiotic shot in my hip before i left. i couldnt get the script feeled til wednesday round 4 an then started taking them. well since then my left nut has gotten larger an harder an the pain keeps getting worse an worse an now is spread up right beside my penis on left side. is this something normal an how long will my testicle stay enlargened an stiff?

Hi there!

Well, since there was a gap between the initiation of the treatment, it is possible for the infection/ inflammation to have spread in the meantime. I would suggest taking the antibiotic as prescribed, while the infection and the symptoms may take a few days to settle. Meanwhile you could try taking some tylenol for symptomatic relief.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
