Pain when urinating post swab test

Hello guys,

I went yesterday for an urethra swab and it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. They took samples for testing of Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and NSU (Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Trichomonas) due some frequency urinating I have.

I took this due an oral sex incident about three months ago. I already tested negative for HIV at 5th and 9th week mark but I want to rule out other STDs.

Anyway, after the urethra swab it's VERY painful during the first seconds (beginning) of urinating. I have never felt such pain before. I guess it's an effect of the cotton during the swab test, maybe it damaged some cells in my urethra :(

I would like to know how did you cope with this pain after the test.

Thanks.

Hi!
Usually the swab test is not painful. If there is pain then either some infection was introduced during the test or there was frictional injury when the swab was rotated. Drink plenty of fluids and use a local antibiotic cream. This may help. However, please discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
