Penis Pain

I am in my mid 40's. Have had pain in the glans for 3-1/2 years now. The top of the glans is redder in color. Looking inside the tip of the penis toward the top the urethra is white. I have been to my doctor, a dermatologist, and a urologist. The dermatologist thought it might be nerve damage. My doctor thought it might be herpes. The medicine for that didn't do anything. He thought that the inside of the penis shouldn't have a white spot like that and that it should be looked at under a microscope. I went to the urologist who looked at it and says it looks totally normal. I am at my whits end as to what to do. Should I have a scope and biopsy. The urologist is convinced that it is age and normal. He is certain that the biopsy will not reveal anything abnormal and says that the blood vessels are just closer to the surface there. Can all of this come about with age and you just have to live with it? I think that if there is pain there is a problem. Is that correct thinking? I really don't want to be cut on for nothing... Please give me someplace to turn or a suggestion. The problem that I have is that my penis feels like it is on fire or being pinched all of the time. It hurts to walk with it rubbing against my underwear. Sex isn't comfortable either. I'm just always aware of my penis and the pain. I have been through all of the std tests, etc. It's nothing like that. Guidance???

Good luck to you as well Tom. I have also thought about eczema and psoriasis as possibilites. I don't know if they can be ruled out or not.

Thank you for the response.  Yes, I believe this started with a lot of friction from clothing, though I have back problems and went that route too.  Very frustrating where I just get the brush off, these Dr's are men, you'd think they'd have compassion. Act like I'm nuts, or wont acknowledge my pain as that bad.  For long time I blamed circumcision, skin is just to sensitive and can't keep up with our busy lives, running, bicking, and loose clothes.
Keep trying, good luck to you.

I have had 2 Doctors say that I may have to go to a neurologist. I haven't been there yet. I am still trying to decide if I want to have the scope and biopsy. I would guess that the only thing a neurologist could do for us is give us some kind of medication for the pain. I am not much of a pill taker so I haven't gone that direction. I wish I knew what caused this. I have racked my brain forever trying to figure it out. To me it has to be something other than nerve damage. I don't think nerve damage would change the color or texture of your penis in any way. If it is nerve damage, I would have to say it is from either lifting something wrong as I do have lower back pain from time to time but don't we all. I started riding dirt bikes again three or four years ago and maybe the riding has somehow damaged something. I just don't know but I am with you. I really want a cure for things to go back to normal. I have asked two doctors about cancer and they both agreed that cancer doesn't present itself this was and generally cancer does not cause any pain. If it caused pain they could detect it a lot earlier and help more people. Still doesn't keep me from worrying about it though. I wish I had more for you. Let me know if you have any ideas. I just keep hoping an MD reads my post and is generous enough to give me at least a direction. Take care

I feel you described my exact situation.  What do you think caused this? I have been looking with little relief, and wrong directions, 4 Dr's, different meds, and set backs.  Did anyone suggest a Neurologist, they just said it's normal?  I asked my Dr for some type of pain relief with no suggestions.  Just feel a neurologist is my next hope, 3 years with you, I think someone has to step in to help us.  I'm about 10 months with it and at wits end.  Take care.
