Penis Urgent Problem

Dear Dr. About three weeks ago, I started noticing a white or I shall say skin discloloration on my penis shaft about a centimeter down of my penis head. it looks like as if i am pressing with my finger on my hand" color fades away for a second and comes back" - the skin is flat, not flaky and there is no discharge etc. i visited two doctors at a walk in clinic and they told me two different things. one told me that i had ringworm or tinea, other said it is caused due to rubbing and will take another 2 weeks to go away. I started using the anti-fungal cream ketoderm but no change of sign. The white spot is circular and about 2mm diameter. the surrounding skin is reddish, and DOES not take a ring shape, it more likely has an irregular shape- i mean it is not consistent, more red on bottom of circle mark than the rest of the surrounding area of the white mark. Please help. I don't know what to think. I am definately sure it is not an STD. BTW prior to that white mark, i was using antibiotic called Fucidin Ointment 2% in that area, and about the third day of using it i noticed the white spot on my penis shaft.

thank you for your reply. i don't have simiar spot no. regarding pain or itchiness, no there isn't any such thing. its not scrapable or anything that is causing skin to peal off. i looked at psoriatic balanitis and its nothing like that. i only am noticing color change. nothing more nothing less. depigmented skin, followed by red irritated skin upon spreading, small blood vains in one place gather and form this little darker skin which is more like light pink. anyways i came to a conclustion that assesment online is much useless although your help was well appreciated. Thank you for your help and i will take it from here on my own.

Have you any similar lesions in other parts of the body?

You haven't mentioned if the area is itchy or if there is pain involved?

Can you easily scrape off the white pigment like a scab ?

You noted that the lesion appeared after use of a topical antibiotic.An allergic reaction or dermatitis may be involved here.At this point one differential is a psoriatic lesion
(psoriatic balanitis) as this may also involve the penis and is not very uncommon. You may discuss this differential with your dermatologist.

Have you been assessed along this line?

hello again...

ever since your first reply, i went and did a type specific herpes test and result came back both negative for one and two... now this depigmentation i was having is still visible, the size hasn't increased or anything. the only thing i am noticing now is under that depigentation, the skin directly underneath has turned red, almost surrounding the entire circle of depigmentation, but not the top part of it. this red skin is nothing but a majority of small blood vains when skin is spread. again, i am not concerned about stds, so roll that out of your conclusion, but please inform me of what is this that am going through...

Based on your previous post, the character of your lesion does not sound like herpetic lesions which are usually vesicular ( appear like small clear and clustered lesions) in character. When an organism infects a host , there is such a thing as an incubation period .During this time, the patient is already infected by the organism but manifests no disease.This incubation period varies from organism to organism and also depends on the person's immune system.I am not sure about herpes' incubation period , but yes it is possible.

hey there, i visited a dermatologist and a urologist. both said it was nothing to worry about. i had a full screen test for std and it all came back negative. is it possible a person could be infected with herpes and not have any outbreaks?

Hi,

I suggest you seek consult with a urologist.Lesions in the penis require  a complete visual assessment and thorough physical examination.

Penile lesions may be due to infections like herpes or syphilis which may present as deep ulcers. They may also be normal structures like sweat glands or blood vessels.

Discuss with your physician your complete medical history including past medications used. Your sexual history is also important.
