Prolonged erection during sleep

I've received a diagnose of Epididymitis in my right (and possible slightly left) testicle in December, and was treated with antibiotics: Ciprofloxcin (10 days unsuccessful) and Dyxolin (15 days succesful). The severe pain in my testicle has subsided to discomfort and slight pain at occasions. I have also had pain in penis when flaccid(inflammatory kind of pain and sometimes in the penis head (which is also blue-red at the corona, most likely due to blood flowing in/out that way). Ultrasound of testicles came out fine. I am now taking 1x2x50mg of Voltaren NSAID for 10 days for this kind of pain. I've been to several doctors and urologist for this but I got few answers. I am now on a wait-list for more examinations at a major hospital, but it takes a lot of time.

The major problem now is this; I get nocturnal erections as all men should have, so far it's OK. Nomally 1-5 times a night, but as the full erections go down after 2-15 minutes depending, it's often "stuck" at a semi-erected state which I fear can last for hours until I wake up. As soon as I wake up it will go back to flaccid, however more filled with blood than before December. There is no pain usually, but it can hurt if the bladder is full also when erected. I am nervous and now get up 2-3 times at night, just to keep an eye on the situation. Also, the external veins on the sides of penis are very visible and blood-filled, more than before. I can also get erections when just falling asleep for 30 mins in the day, and when the bladder is very full. I also have Dystonia (torticollis) for which I'm treated with Botox injections in neck muscles and Diazepam for relaxing muscles (very small amounts).

I'm quite nervous about this, in relation to losing potency...

The urologist I saw on Jan 28 know about these conditions, but claims it is harmless. I would like second opinion on this though...? Causes - treatment..  I am up for a cytoscopy, but should I ask for a doppler ultrasound also?

Hi . I am also suffering from this problem prolong erection for more than 1 year . Then some one advice be few thing that I want to share . Before going sleep put one or 2 pillow under your hip it will relax you hip muscle , secondly if you feel erection then raise your leg for 1 or 2 minutes erection will go away and continue to sleep again . Pray to God for help and listen (  surah rehman on YouTube 3 or 4 times ) before sleep . But believe  me it worked for me .

I just saw your post and I have been having the same issue with multiple erections that are so powerful that I wake up 4-5 times in the middle of the night. When I went I went to see a urologist, he took me off chocolate, caffeine, and citrus and they it definitely seemed to work. I started taking a training supplement with Citrulline Malate and they are back worse than ever. Unfortunately this supplement is so good for my training that I am just dealing with it. Try eliminating those things and see if it works...it took about 10 days to see the effect once I went off.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Multiple erections in the night and awakening with erections is nothing to worry, but prolonged and painful erection is a reason that needs to be evaluated. It could be due to certain drugs like heparin, trazadone; sickle cell anemia which can lead to priapism and hormonal abnormalities.
Prolonged erections can lead to scarring inside the penis and can have effect on future erections. It would be better to get imaging studies of penis done to rule out structural abnormalities and vascular dysfunction if any.
Consult a urologist for further assistance.
Best.
