Pronounced vein on penis.

This morning I woke up with an erection as many man usually do. I undressed and went to the shower and noticed a very pronounced and somewhere sore vein on the left side of the head of my penis. I have never ever seen a vein there, much less popping out like that. (I didn't even though the head of the penis had veins like that. Anyway it's rather sore and it is obviously much less pronounced when not erect but still visible. What is this and is it serious?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
What you’re suffering is known as Mondor’s disease in which there’s inflammation for the superficial veins of the penis and one of the commonest causes of the same is vigorous sexual activity. Abstinence from sexual activity is important. Use of aspirin & anticoagulants like heparin are common. Anti-inflammatory drugs not only provide the pain relief but also tend to decrease the inflammation. I’ll suggest you to consult a urologist for the same as confirmation of the diagnosis is possible only after the physical examination and an ultrasound Doppler of the penile veins.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

I apologize for the spelling mistakes, "somewhere" should be "somewhat" and "though" should be "know". My mistake, typed this in a hurry.
