I recently underwent a transabdominal laproscopic nephropexy for symptomatic nephroptosis. My surgeon told my husband and I that if it reoccurs, which is completely possible, that it is most likely around the three year point. Due to the risk of reoccurence, my surgeon was proactive by utilizing nonabsorbable sutures to secure my kidney.
As far as the actual surgery, I went home the next day and within two weeks felt better than ever! I've suffered for ten years with various kidney ailments (or so I'd been told) and had an open pyloplasty in 2002. Ultimately it took an attentive surgeon who finally gave me an accurate diagnosis and my life back.
I am also suffering from nephroptosis, however all of my research leads me to find that nephropexy is not practiced anymore. Could you please tell me about the surgery? Anything you know about it would be great. Thanks so much.
