Strange Symptoms

Three months ago I had a sexual encounter were the condom came off durring intercourse.  A week later I noticed a small red bump on my penis and went to my G.P. to have it checked out.  She thought it was nothing but referred me to a dermatologist who also said it was nothing, probably a skin irritation and it would fade away which it did.  It never was painful and never did blister.

A day or two after visiting the Derm I developed a tingle in my penis, it felt like I contstantly had to urinate. (never any discharge) I returned to the G.P. & was tested for chlymidia, gonarhea & syphlis.  All negative but was put on 3 weeks of Doxyciclin as a precaution.  2 weeks into the Doxi, I started to have other symptoms: testicle pain, a tingle in my rectom & thighs, & burning in my penis tip, itchy feeling, so they switched me to 10 days of Amoxacilin.  After 2 weeks of Doxi and 10 days of Amox the urge to uninate was gone but nothing else seemed to improve so I was referred to a Urologist.

The Urologist orderd a ultrasound of my testicles which turned up nothing. He did not think it was prostatitus or any other urological cause.  He ordered Motrin 3 times a day & thought eventually it would go away.

3 weeks later symptoms had not gone away & I returned to my G.P.  She is now thinking it is a nerve issue.  She put me on a months worth of nerve pain meds but said I may need to take these meds for 3 months and if symptoms continue they would do an MRI.

I asked every doctor about the possability of herpes and none thought it was a posability or were concerned enough to order a test.  Also my G.P. tested me for HIV and Hep B at 1 month & 2 months - all negative.

Do you have any insight as to what could be going on with me?  Does a diagnosis of nerve damage or problems sound acurate? Also at this point with three doctors not concerned about herpes should I totally rule that out as a posable cause of the symptoms?

Thank you for your help!

If the Dermatologist saw the bump and said it wasn't herpes, they are pretty intelligent to know what is and isn't herpes by sight. It would be itneresting to know what you have so when you find out, please let us know here....

Three doctors were not concered about herpes my question is, I shouldn't be concerned that these symptoms could be due to that correct?  Also is it unusual for symptoms from herpes to last for so long and never have any sort of outbreak blistor or sore?  What about the doctors diagnosis of never problems?  At this point should I continue wih the three months of meds and see if it goes away and if not then have the MRI as suggested or do I need to take other steps?

Thanks

The workup thus far has been comprehensive, and I agree with the steps so far.

Many of the major infections have been ruled out already with the negative testing.  Further testing of the prostate can be done with a transrectal ultrasound as well as prostatic massage.  Prostatic fluid expressed by the massage can be sent for culture and analysis.

A cystoscopy can be done to exclude a urethral stricture or polyp.

If herpes is suspected,  appropriate antibody tests can be done to test for this possibility.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

The Urologist also took urine samples which he though looked fine and checked my prostate which he thought was fine as well.  I am a 33 year old male otherwise in good health,
